Science Myth Busters Competition

Content & Technical Rules

Duration: Reels must be between 30 to 90 seconds.

Format: MP4 or MOV (Vertical orientation 9:16).

Topic: Pick a common scientific myth and explain the actual science behind it.

Originality: Content must be original. Use of copyrighted music or clips without permission is discouraged. We recommend using royalty-free audio or original voiceovers.

Important: Entries without the exact subject line mentioned above will be automatically disqualified.
Please include your Full Name, Contact Number, Address and Institution/Organization in the body of the email.
Please specify your category in your submission email.

Contest Starts: 1 February 2026
Submission Deadline: 20 February 2026 (11:59 PM IST)
Winner Announcement: 28 February 2026
(National Science Day)

Judging Criteria

Entries will be evaluated by a panel based on:

Scientific Accuracy: Is the “Busting” based on factual, peer reviewed science?

Creativity & Engagement: How well is the information presented?

Clarity: Is the explanation easy to understand for a general audience?

Production Quality: Good lighting, clear audio, and effective editing.

Participant Categories

Category A: Juniors, Students from Class 6 to Class 12

Category B: Seniors, Students currently in Graduation or Post-Graduation (UG/PG)

Category C: Experts, Research Scholars (PhD) and Working Professionals (“Category C participants are expected to provide deeper scientific nuances or cite specific research while debunking the myth.)

Copyrighted Music & Intellectual Property

Royalty-Free Music: We strongly encourage the use of royalty-free music from platforms like the YouTube Audio Library, Pixabay, or BenSound.

Original Audio: Reels featuring original voice overs or your own background scores are highly encouraged and often score higher in the “Creativity” criteria

Indemnity: By submitting, the participant confirms that they have the right to use all elements (audio and visual) in their reel. CCE, IISc will not be responsible for any copyright infringement claims arising from participant entries.

Human-Centric Content: The primary content of the reel (the explanation and debunking of the myth) must be your own work. The reel should reflect your unique voice and understanding of the topic.

Permitted Al Tools: Participants may use Al for technical assistance such as noise reduction, caption generation, or color grading.

Prohibited Al Use: Submitting a reel that is entirely generated by Al (e.g., Al-generated avatars or purely Al-written scripts without personal intervention) is strictly prohibited and will lead to disqualification.

Disclosure Requirement: If you have used Al-powered tools for visual effects or background elements, you must include a brief disclosure in your submission email detailing which tools were used.

Accuracy Check: Al is known to “hallucinate.” If you use Al for research, it is your responsibility to verify all scientific facts through credible sources. Misinformation even if generated by Al-will result in immediate rejection.

Prizes & Recognition

Top 3 Winners: Will receive official Certificates of Excellence and exciting Prizes from CCE, IISc.

Feature: The winning reels will be featured on the official CCE, social media channels, giving your work visibility across our academic community.

Additional Rules

Individual Participation: Only one entry per person is allowed.
No Misinformation: While the topic is “Myth-Busting,” the video itself must not promote promote any pseudo science or harmful activities.

Rights: By submitting, participants grant CCE, IISc the right to use, edit, and share the video for promotional and educational purposes on their platforms.

Decision: The judge’s decision will be final and binding.

Al Usage Guidelines
At CCE, IISc, we value human creativity and scientific understanding. While we embrace modern technology, the following rules apply to Al-generated content:
