Three Specialised Streams

Calculus
Limits, continuity and differentiability. Maxima and minima. Mean value theorem. Integration.
Linear Algebra
Matrices, determinants, system of linear equations, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, LU decomposition.
Probability
Random variables. Uniform, normal, exponential, Poisson and binomial distributions. Mean, median, mode and standard deviation. Conditional probability and Bayes theorem.
Foundations
Linear Algebra/Matrices, Probability, Statistics and Combinatorics at undergraduate engineering mathematics level, plus basic Calculus and Geometry.
Programming
Data Structures (arrays, matrices, etc.) and Basic Programming in Java, C, C++, or Python.
Test Format
Multiple choice questions and programming questions. Total duration: 60 minutes.
Engineering Mathematics
Linear Algebra, Calculus, Differential Equations, Vector Analysis, Probability & Statistics.
Communications & Signal Processing
Information theory, digital modulation, Fourier transforms, DTFT, DFT, Z-transform, LTI systems, control systems basics.
HFCS & Devices
Analog circuits, digital circuits, semiconductor devices, electromagnetic fields and Maxwell's equations, transmission lines.

Step 0 — Prepare Documents
Mark sheets of 10th, 12th Standard, UG and PG degree (if any). Signed sponsorship letter from your organisation. Verify your minimum eligibility for each stream before applying.
Step 1 — Visit Admissions Portal
Go to admissions.iisc.ac.in and select “Apply Now” under M.Tech. (Online) Programmes for Sponsored Candidates.
Step 2 — Register Your Account
Register with your email address and a password. The email ID used cannot be changed later and will receive all admissions-related communications.
Step 3 — Fill Application Form
Complete all five tabs: Personal Details, Employment Details, Academic Qualifications, Programme Choice, and Document Upload. Application fee is ₹2,000/- (non-refundable).
