Chair’s Message

The Centre for Continuing Education (CCE), Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, has always been committed to extending IISc’s academic excellence to a wider community of learners, professionals, researchers, and industry participants. Through its continuing education programmes, CCE has been playing an important role in promoting lifelong learning, professional development, and knowledge dissemination in emerging areas of science, engineering, technology, and interdisciplinary studies.

As the learning needs of society continue to evolve, CCE is taking a significant step forward through IKEN — IISc’s Knowledge and E-Learning Network. IKEN is envisioned as an IISc-led platform to offer high-quality online and hybrid learning opportunities with strong academic oversight, flexibility, and institutional standards.

Under this initiative, CCE is introducing IKEN Prime and IKEN Edge. IKEN Prime will focus on advanced certification programmes with live online engagement, expert faculty interaction, structured assessments, and deeper learning experiences. IKEN Edge will offer MOOC-style certificate courses in cutting-edge and emerging areas, enabling wider access to IISc’s academic expertise through flexible online learning.

Together, CCE and IKEN aim to create a strong platform for advanced learning, skill development, and knowledge sharing. These initiatives reflect IISc’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and inclusive education, while supporting learners and professionals in meeting the demands of a rapidly changing world.
