This 16-hour online program offers a comprehensive study of modern genetic engineering and molecular tools. It spans foundational quantitative diagnostics—such as RT-qPCR and NGS—through targeted gene regulation, viral vector design, recombinant protein expression, and CRISPR-Cas9 editing. Participants will also examine how transgenic animal and cellular models are generated and deployed to investigate complex human diseases and aging mechanisms.
Dr. N. Ravi Sundaresan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Cell Biology at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru. He earned his Ph.D. from the Indian Veterinary Research Institute and completed postdoctoral training in cardiovascular cell biology at the University of Chicago. His research explores the molecular mechanisms behind heart failure, cardiac hypertrophy, and metabolic diseases. His laboratory specifically investigates sirtuins—a family of histone deacetylases—using transgenic animal models and cellular techniques. The ultimate goal of his scientific work is to discover new therapeutic targets to improve cardiovascular health and treat muscle degeneration
