A structured online programme from IISc introduces the principles of composite materials, their mechanical behavior, and modern design and analysis techniques for developing lightweight, high-strength structural components used in aerospace, automotive, and civil engineering applications.
Dr. G. Narayana Naik is a distinguished academic and researcher with a strong focus on aerospace engineering. He holds a PhD in Design and Development of Failure Mechanisms Based on Failure Theory from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). His research interests include Aerostructures, Solid Mechanics, Structural Mechanics, FEM, Composites, Nanocomposites, Failure Mechanics, Damage Mechanics, and Optimization Techniques. Dr. Naik’s contributions to these fields have been recognized with a high H-index and citation scores, reflecting his significant impact on the scientific community.
Composites are future materials and have been finding applications in all fields of Engineering (Aero, Civil, Mechanical, Automobile, Marine).
Many FEM software packages are available for Analysis & Design Optimization.
One should first understand the Mechanical behaviour of the Composite Structures before using FEM packages.
After the completion of this course one can use the FEM software packages for better quality of professional work and optimum usage of time, computing and human resources.
